Update 15:28 UTC : Below
the Tsunami Waves grid as published by GDACS and based on preliminary
data (confirmed in the meanwhile) = NO tsunami expected. The M7.0
mainshock had max. tsunami waves measured at 9 cm only.
Update 15:17 UTC : At least 4 +M5 aftershocks since the mainshock today, thats in less than 1 hour
Update 15:15 UTC : The
shaking values below are not in accordance with the Manado people who
are talking about a strong shaking. We trust the opinion of the Manado
people as they are experiencing a lot of earthquakes. Based on their
felt reports, we expect at least some minor to moderate damage.
Update 15:11 UTC : One of our readers living in Manado, Sulawesi wrote:
No damage as far as we can see, but all the people run outside the buildings and stay at the street
Update 15:07 UTC : BMKG
has a IV (light shaking) MMI for Manado, Sulawesi. There will be
certainly aftershocks but most of them will not be felt on the islands
because of the middle of the sea epicenter
Update 15:06 UTC : The seismogram from the BMKG / Geofon station in Tolitoli, Indonesia
Update 14:58 UTC :
Earthquake-Report.com expects some minor material damage in Sulawesi
based on our experience + the 2 recent M6.7 and M7.3
earthquakes/aftershock
Update 14:57 UTC :
Professor Max Wyss who specializes in theoretical calculations of human
losses does not expect any killed or injured people based on the current
parameters.
Update 14:55 UTC : The
hypocenter (breaking point) is in line with the mainshock and the other
very strong aftershock and has a preliminary depth of 66 km (partly the
reason why there is no major tsunami threat)
Update 14:48 UTC : USGS
reports a preliminary Magnitude of M7.0 (Tsunami calculations are based
on this Magnitude). We do however NOT exclude that a local Indonesian
Tsunami alert will go off.
Update 14:45 UTC : PWTC Pacific Ocean Tsunami message : BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA… THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT FROM THIS EARTHQUAKE.
Update 14:43 UTC : A similar aftershock than last week (also that aftershock had a Magnitude of M6.7 but was a little more to the East)
