Grundsätzlich zielen alle vier darauf, geschäftsmäßig organisierte Sterbehilfe zu unterbinden. Suizid ist in Deutschland derzeit nicht strafbar, demnach ist auch die Beihilfe zum Suizid nicht strafbar, wenn der Betroffene etwa ein todbringendes Medikament selbst einnimmt. Ob dies so bleibt, ist Gegenstand der politischen Diskussion. Demgegenüber steht Tötung auf Verlangen in Deutschland unter Strafe. Vier Gruppenanträge wurden dazu ins Parlament eingebracht.
