Das Sommerfest San Juan wird in ganz Spanien stürmisch und voller Freude gefeiert. Der "Johannistag" ist das Hochfest der Geburt Johannes’ des Täufers am 24. Juni. Er steht in enger Verbindung zur zwischen dem 20. und dem 22. Juni stattfindenden Sommersonnenwende. Die Johannisnacht ist die Nacht auf den Johannistag, vom 23. auf den 24. Juni. Die Spanier feiern aber nicht nur das Fest, sondern fuer die Spanier beginnt auch die Saison des Tourismus. Es wird den ganzen Sommer über gearbeitet und es füllen sich die Kassen der spanischen Hotelbetreiber, Bars Cafés usw..Internationale Gäste kamen zu Millionen und am Ende des Sommers wurden dann die Einnahmen stolz veröffentlicht. Nötig ist das Geld für Spanien sehr, denn im Winter gibt es kaum Arbeit für die Einheimischen und das verdiente Sommer-Geld muß für die Familien den gesamten Winter über reichen.
