Bei einer neuen Messung war der höchste Berg der Alpen 1.3 Meter niedriger als noch vor zwei Jahren. 4.808,73 Meter wurden bei der Expedition am Mittwoch gemessen - 2013 waren es noch 4.810,02 Meter gewesen. Laut Geoforschern sind Niederschlag und Wind für die Schwankung verantwortlich, weil sich dann unterschiedlich viel Schnee - der später zu Eis wird - auf der Eishaube am Gipfel ansammelt. Ohne das Eis ist der Montblanc 4792 Meter hoch.
