Canary Islands: boom in cheap hotels after Egypt's collapse due to war in Israel

In recent days, the hotel industry in the Canary Islands has seen a strong upswing in bookings and prices after the conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted in Egypt because of the terrorist attacks from Gaza (Massive cancellations in travel agencies because of the war in Israel). As Preferente learned from the main representatives of Spanish tourism, the increase is mainly in the cheaper accommodations, where competition with destinations in the Middle East is greater (Euphoria in the Canary Islands for the winter due to the British boom and as a refuge). Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura already had very encouraging forecasts for their peak season, which is in the winter months that have just begun, but now they have even increased after the escalation of war tensions in Palestine. Spain is strengthening its position as a refuge for Europeans, a trend that is likely to extend to the Balearic Islands and the peninsular coast from spring onwards, if the climate of confrontation in Israel does not ease from now on. Turkey could also be affected by the prospect of war between neighboring countries, against a backdrop of uncertainty due to the geopolitical imbalances that have existed since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with China and the United States acting as indirect protagonists through their allies in Saudi Arabia and Iran. In any case, November, December, January, February and March are likely to be record-breaking months in the Canary Islands, with Christmas prices already reaching historic levels in recent days.
