CCOO has called off at the last minute the strike of handling staff at Ryanair that was due to start on Friday 28 October (Definitive: new strike at Ryanair from 28 October). As Preferente has learned, the union has taken this decision after the company has committed itself to sit down and negotiate with the workers' representatives to improve the working conditions of the Azulhandling staff. Union sources consulted by this newspaper argue that "the turnaround given by the company", with a willingness to negotiate "that seems to be firm and reliable", and "so that there is no bad faith on our part, we have chosen to call off the strike". However, they warn that "there will always be time to reconvene, and if so, there will no longer be confidence". The CCOO strike was due to begin on Friday 28 October and last until 7 January 2023. The airports affected by the call were Santiago de Compostela, Malaga, Gran Canaria, Murcia, Ibiza, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca. For its part, USO, which followed in the footsteps of CCOO, calling a few days later a statewide strike at 22 airports, assures that its strike is still on. However, sources close to Ryanair consulted by Preferente clarify that this union only has five delegates at one airport (Alicante), so its action will have no impact on operations (Ryanair: new strike at 22 Spanish airports).
