Gigantic smoke clouds loom over Alaska as winds fuel wildfires
Giant plumes of smoke from a large wildfire were visible from a distance
near the Alaskan town of Soldotna on Tuesday (May 20). Local media said
the Funny River fire has consumed more than 20,000 acres.
Officials said the wildfires were likely caused by an abandoned campfire and further fueled by strong winds and dry conditions.
No homes have been burned and there were no reports of injuries.
